| Couch roll |
Couch roll is covered with highly abrasion resistant rubber. The couch roll dewaters the sheet as it is carried by the fabric to increase the sheet consistency to the level required for pick up by the felt.
The couch roll drives the entire wire part and helps in anti slippage of the wire which indeed increases the life of the wire.

| Lump Breaker |
A large diameter, lightweight roll located above a suction couch and operating at low pressures, smoothes the paper and enhances dewatering before it leaves the fabric.
Lump breaker rolls are covered with a very soft (160 to 250 p&j) high release cover compound that resists steam and chemical attack.

| Cylinder Couch Rolls |
The cylinder couch roll runs against the sheet-forming cylinder mold to produce a pressure nip that dewaters the sheet through the mold and transfers the sheet to the bottom of the felt, which transports it into the press section.
Cylinder couch rolls are generally soft rubber or polyurethane (200 to 250 p&j) that resists age and heat hardening. Cylinder machine applications also require excellent chemical resistance. |
| Suction Drum Rider |
In a cylinder machine, the suction drum rider roll runs against the suction drum to form a nip for water extraction prior to the primary press section.
These rolls are covered with 1" to 1.25" thick highly abrasion resistant rubber or polyurethane at 70 to 125 p&j hardness and are drilled for optimum venting and dewatering. |
